how it works
The unique catamaran Largyalo sails around the world in 1000 days and visits numerous world cities and hot spots of the climate crisis, hosting pressing dialogs between extraordinary personalities and staging events, workshops and conferences with reference to the multifaceted aspects of climate change and climate protection.
The Ark is virtually the embodiment of its web community that connects people to a global network actively fostering local initiatives and awareness with the support of experts.
The interlinked brains boost communication processes and the creation of ideas and
knowledge. This collective intelligence directly flows into project proposals and initiatives to be discussed by experts in on-board dialogs and on-shore conferences and workshops.
The overall approach of the initiative is result-oriented and aims to create a measurable impact in awareness and individual behaviour and to trigger action.
Visibility and media presence are our tools and access to the public. Our topics, the illustrious guests and personalities on board, the virtual community, the adventure of a global circumnavigation, and last but not least, the unique catamaran with its revolutionary energy concept powered by sun, wind and water, absolutely independent of fossil fuel, make The Ark of Ideas attractive to the media.

All community members
providing a photo in their profile can accompany the voyage symbolically: their
portraits will be visible on the sails, in reality as a print and in the
virtual world, on this website.
We are all in the same boat.

New website of The Ark of Ideas
Our new website is now online in a first version. For the time being, its purpose is mainly to gain experience about the acceptance of the layout, clarity and user guidance.
The first Web 2 elements are activated, others, dealing directly with the activities on board and the onshore events will be added in due time.
This website is aiming to build up a big and lively community, that is actively participating in the climate protection initiative. To grant a maximum of spontaneity, no registration is necessary to participate in dialogs or ratings. However, for functions like the social network or the placement of portraits into the “community sails”, it will be necessary to set up a user profile.

The Ark of Ideas as a floating cinema
Our catamaran Largyalo will be transformed into a floating cinema. Due to the size and construction of the vessel, it offers the opportunity to set up an entire screening unit ( beamer and screen) onto the deck, and show movies via backward projection.
The width of the projection can be almost 10 meters, and the screen can be put up sideways as well as abeam. Thus, we can show interesting documentaries and reportages in ports or very close to the shore and even in busy anchorages as a “dinghy-drive-in” cinema.
